PROMOTIONS
The Grand Canyon Expeditions Company leads tours down the mighty Colorado River

Successful promotion of films in theaters throughout the world takes experience, creativity, and an eye for the potential market. That's why Destination Cinema, Inc. works closely with individual theater managers to find innovative ways to promote films at each venue. Here are some of our many success stories:

SUPERSCREEN AT JORDAN COMMONS, SANDY, UT
At the opening for their exhibition of the original version of "Grand Canyon: The Hidden Secrets," theater staff at the Superscreen at Jordan Commons filled the foyer of the cinema with a 38-foot raft, compliments of Grand Canyon Expeditions. The immense craft gave moviegoers a first-hand idea of what types of challenges the 1869 John Wesley Powell Expedition faced - and the courage and spirit they must have had to survive. Guests also won prizes, including tickets for a Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour.

SASKATCHEWAN SCIENCE CENTER, REGINA, CANADA
In honor of the film's opening at the Saskatchewan Science Center in Regina, Canada, the theater staff tried to bring the Grand Canyon to Canada. A giant mural of the canyon was painted on the side of the theater, and donkeys were brought in to make the atmosphere authentic. Even the mayor and town council members got into the spirit as they rode the donkeys through the streets of town and into the theater. In addition, audience members were entered to win a whitewater-rafting trip through the Grand Canyon, sponsored by the Grand Canyon Expedition Company.

GRAND CANYON IMAX THEATER
At the Grand Canyon's destination cinema, theatergoers can see the actual wooden dories used in filming of the John Wesley Powell expedition as well as photos from the film. And if that's not enough, visitors can have their picture taken on the cover of National Geographic Magazine or have a whole sheet of postage-stamp sized self-portraits printed at the Your Face All Over the Place Sticker Station. During the summer season, guest artists, sculptors and vendors offer Grand Canyon related arts and crafts and Native American jewelry as mementos of the Grand Canyon Experience. And with all the amenities recently added to the theater complex, the staff is finding that many visitors spend more time at the Grand Canyon IMAX Theater than they do looking over the rim of the Canyon!
